M1 Garand Spotted In Syria

We posted recently about a cache of 5000 German STG-44 rifles found in Syria as well as a few STG-44s seen in action, well it looks like the STG-44 isn’t the only WWII weapon being used by Syrian rebels. It looks like an M1 Garand is still seeing some action in Syria. Posted over at MilitaryPhotos.net, the fighter seen above looks like the odd man out with his WWII relic while his buddies are all sporting AKs. Honestly thought, I’d rather use the M1 Garand too.

Edit: It appears the person above isn’t actually Syrian at all, he’s actually from Lebanon according this source.

  1. I believe that the truth is out there yet many don’t want to hear it.the BATFE doesn’t want to re-important old ass worn out weapons back in this country and people really need to get over their childish excuses to ” blame Obama”

Bush Jr had the opportunity to ” bring those damn guns back” and it didn’t happen under his administration either.

Amazing how so many of you and the GIs who used the M-1 garand lived their lives WITHOUT ONE and didn’t lose sleep.

You want one ? Buy it new from Fulton Armory or join CMP you cheap bastards!

Many of you have never fired and M-14 either so are you gonna cry about buying an M-1A?

    Many

  2. It’s not syria it’s lebanon that guy is from a notorious clan in lebanon ( mokdad family ) and a few years ago some of their relatives were kidnapped in syria so they started these armed groups to go on tv and threaten to kidnap Turks unless the hostages are returned. I’m lebanese and I remeber when they first went on tv my friend and I were like ( dude is rockin a garand….that’s awesome !!!!! )

  3. Possibly the rifles from South Korea, which actually belong to the American people. Unfortunately O has been funding and arming Al-Qaeda in Libya and Syria for a number of years.

  4. The rifle AND ammo look new. Could they be from that South Korean cache of 300,000 Garands that Queen Hilery won’t allow back into the U.S.A.? Hey Shadow Govm’t, just asking.

  5. What with the StG-44’s and now Garands it seems the Syrian rebels are quite the connoisseurs of fine firearms. Nothing like overthrowing a government in style.

    • go to http://www.thecmp.org
all you have to do is take a marksmanship class, join an affiliated club (most local gun clubs count) and pay $625 for a service grade m1 garand. thats how i got mine. this is a non profit organization chartered by congress to put surplus rifles into the hands of the general public. mine will do 2 MOA all day long and i am not that great of a shooter. i can hit the black on a military “D” silhouette target from 400 yards using surplus ammo from the 60’s-70’s repeatedly. just have to know where to look.

      • except the Garand in pics appears to be: CMP SPECIAL: (Excellent)
CMP’s new grade of M1 Garand. This rifle consists of a new production stock and handguard set with CMP cartouche, a new production barrel and new web sling. Receiver and most other parts are refinished USGI, but some parts may be new manufacture. Cost: $995+$25S&H

    • We loaned them to countries all over the world, until they could update their armories in the Lend-Lease program after WW II. Unfortunately countries like Iran are nor longer our friends and places like South Korea tried to sell off almost 900, 000 on the open market instead of returning them to the DOD/CMP as the law requires. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1_Garand
