Guardsmen Tests The M26 12-Gauge Modular Accessory Shotgun System

1

The new M26 12-Gauge Modular Accessory Shotgun System, otherwise known as MASS, is an under-barrel shotgun attachment for the M16/M4/AR-15 series of rifles. It’s the same concept of the Masterkey, giving soldiers the ability to use their rifle as a shotgun for close quarters combat, breaching barriers or for non-leather use. The MASS improves upon the Masterkey however as it features a detachable magazine and can be used as a stand-alone shotgun when fitted with a detachable pistol grip and buttstock.

“Govt Adopts Colt Automatic” 1911 Pistol Newspaper Article

It’s remarkable how a simple yet effective piece of engineering can stand the test of time. The 1911 pistol designed by legendary gun designer John Moses Browning turned 100 years old this year, and it’s still going on strong. The 1911 is still used by police departments and militaries around the world, and is one of the most popular firearm designs in the civilian market. The newspaper clipping from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette dated April 13, 1911 that announced the Army’s adoption of the 1911 really puts  into perspective just how long the 1911 has been in service.

Zippo Lighter Pocket Gun

Zippo-Lighter-Gun

Here’s a cool way to carry a concealed gun for self defense, althought I doubt those little 6mm bullets will do much harm, might poke out an eye or two though. While this isn’t an official lighter from Zippo, it sure is cool. The gun is fired by rolling the flint wheel and the bullets fire out of a tiny barrel where the wick usually is, just don’t forget it’s a gun when you’re lighting up. The Zippo gun lighter pictured sold at auction back in 2006 for a whopping $6,810.

The Mossberg 500 Chainsaw In Action

1

mossberg-chainsaw-shotgun

After the announcement of the Mossberg 500 Chainsaw a lot of zombie preppers immediatly added it to their list of must have zombie killing weapons. While it is a novel idea, it just looks unwieldy and impractical. Check out the video below of the Mossberg 500 Chainsaw in action. It’s hard to aim with, yes you should still aim with a shotgun, and I’d imagine it wouldn’t be optimal for fast follow-up shots. It’s does look cool though.

Inside Look In A Police Department’s Gun Vault

Ever wonder what ever happens to stolen or confiscated guns when the cops get their hands on them? They usually end up in the police departments property and evidence unit and stored away in the departments gun room. If they’re never claimed they go on to be melted down into rebar used for sidewalks and roads.

U.S. Marine Corps Airsoft Guns

The U.S. Marine Corps and Crossman have joined forces to release a Marine Corps branded line of airsoft products. It’s not new to see firearms makers teaming up with airsoft and bb gun makers to release a branded line of products, with the popularity of airsoft on the rise it’s a great branding effort by the U.S. Marine Corps. The military already advertises on TV, at sporting events and with their own merchandise lines, so it’s no surprise that they want to target airsoft users who are their prime demographic.

CDC Says Don’t Be a Zombie, Be Prepared

0

cdc-poster-dont-be-a-zombie

A lot of us joke about the potential for a zombie apocolypse, or we use a zombie uprising as a codeword for a SHTF scenario. Well according to the Center for Disease Control we should plan accordingly for a zombie apocolypse, don’t believe me? Check it out here. All kidding aside, the CDC has really used the zombie phenomenon as a fun way to get attention to the importance of being prepared for various situations.

They’ve recently released a series of posters to help spread the word too, and they’re free! Check them out here, they have two verions available in both 18″ x 24″ or 24″ x 36. Jump on them before they’re gone.

What Was Your First AR-15 Build Project?

4

One of the best things about the AR-15 rifle is how easy it is to build and customize it to the exact specs you want. Feel like making a AR for hunting or long distance shooting? No problem, just pick up an upper with a longer/heavier barrel and slap on the optics of your choice. Feel like an Mforgery? There’s countless options available from lots of manufacturers. I always scope out the custom AR-15 build threads on all the various gun forums I’m on, I like to see the different ways AR shooters make their AR-15 rifles their own. I recently stumbled upon Gunschicken’s AR build and it really reminded me of my first AR-15 project.

Got a AR-15 build story of your own you’d like to share? Post a link or tell us about it in the comments section below. BTW, the AR pictured above is my budget AR build, more details on it in a future post.
